Inferences

I really don't remember being taught about inferences, but I now find my self learning how to teach and actually teaching how to make in inference. I was also talking with C and we are both amazed at what our 6th graders can and can not produce! The reports and papers we wrote in 4th and 5th grade appear way too hard for our kiddos, and the 4th grade "non example" of how to format a paper from J's school - we'd LOVE it if our kids would turn that in.

What has happened to expectations for school kids?!?!?
